Self-love is a mindset. What does that really mean? It means that self-love is the lens in which you see yourself, your relationships, your circumstances, basically your entire life through.
It’s easy to confuse self-love with self-confidence; however, these are two very different things. You can be self-confident in some areas of your life and not others, making it more dynamic. Self-love is static in that this mindset is present in all situations-no matter what you say or do
Self-love determines whether or not you accept all parts of yourself in all moments of your life. Self-love determines if you know you deserve unconditional love from yourself and others. Self-love determines if you talk positively or negatively to yourself (most of the time). Self-love determines if you make taking care of yourself (nutrition, exercise, sleep-etc.) a priority. Finally, self-love determines if you stay in an unhealthy relationship (romantic or otherwise) that is not serving you.
Since we’ve all heard that you only have the capacity to love others as much as you love yourself, why not surround yourself with as much love as possible? I realize this is easier said than done. Watch for a future blog on self-love techniques where I’ll illustrate not just practical tips on loving yourself but more importantly, achieving the self-love mindset.
